Why interested customers leave before they book, and the small fixes that turn website visitors into appointments.
Remove every step you can between "I'm interested" and "I'm booked." Most people who leave your website without scheduling didn't decide against you. They got stuck, got distracted, or couldn't find the button. Every extra click gives them another chance to wander off.
Put your booking button everywhere
Don't make people hunt for it. Your booking link belongs in the header of every page, at the end of every service description, and on your Google Business Profile. When we built the Bowtie Studio website, we integrated booking directly into the site so scheduling never felt like a separate errand.
Answer the questions people ask before they book
People hesitate when they don't know what they're signing up for. What do you offer? What does it cost? How long does it take? Part of the Bowtie project involved restructuring the salon's services and pricing so new clients could understand their options at a glance. If you're not sure how much detail to include, read how much information you should put on your website.
Give people more than one way to reach you
Some customers want to book online at midnight. Others want to talk to a person first. For Chiro Health Connection, we built contact and appointment integrations into the site so new patients could reach out in whatever way felt easiest to them.
Ask for less information up front
Long forms scare people off. Ask only for what you need to schedule the appointment, and collect everything else later. A name, a phone number or email, and a preferred time usually cover it.
Test it on your own phone
Most of your visitors will try to book from their phones. Open your site on yours and book something. Count the taps. Notice where you hesitate. If the process frustrates you, it frustrates your customers too, and it may explain why your website isn't bringing in clients.
Where to start
This week, walk through your booking process as if you'd never heard of your business. Anything confusing or slow is costing you appointments. If you'd like a second set of eyes, request a free website review and I'll help you figure out what should be fixed first.
